Bridging means moving an asset from one chain to another. It used to be a task of its own: find a bridge, wait for it to clear, then swap into the asset the user actually wanted once it arrived. On Mayan it is a swap. The user says where their assets are and where they need to be, signs once, and the asset arrives on the other side in seconds.

How it works

A bridge transfer is a quote where the source and destination chains differ. The asset can stay the same or change in transit.
fetchQuote returns the routes available for the pair, and each one is tagged with the transfer method it uses as type. You choose which route to execute:
  • Swift for speed. See Swift.
  • MCTP for high-value stablecoin transfers, routed over Circle’s CCTP. See MCTP.
  • Wormhole Swap for low-slippage transfers of assets such as SOL and ETH. See Wormhole Swap.
Swift carries single transfers up to around $1M depending on the chain, and MCTP and Fast MCTP up to around $10M.

Gas on the destination chain

A user arriving on a chain they have not used holds none of its native token, so they cannot transact once they land. Two features address this:
  • Gas on destination delivers native gas alongside the output. The amount is returned as gasDrop on the quote.
  • Gasless execution removes the gas requirement on the source chain. On supported routes the user signs a message rather than a transaction, and the fee comes out of the input amount.

Message verification

A cross-chain transfer requires the destination chain to know what happened on the source chain. Mayan uses Wormhole for that: its Guardian network attests each message, with 13 of 19 independent organizations signing before it is valid. Contracts are public and audited. See security & audits.
